: Proposed Dues Increase

On March 7 the board of directors unanimously approved a motion to recommend to the delegates of the 115th National PTA Annual Convention to increase the National PTA dues 50 cents from $1.75 to $2.25.

The increase—the first dues increase since 2001—is necessary to keep up with rising costs, and, more importantly, maintain the level of service provided by National PTA in support of the monumental work of state and local units.

The board of directors, all of whom have access to all pertinent financial records of the association, unanimously approved the proposed dues increase.

The Finance Committee recommended the increase to the board. Based on revenue and expense projections, the committee determined the increase was needed in order for National PTA to maintain its current level of service to state and local units.

Rising costs over the past 10 years have been absorbed entirely by National PTA. In this time, National PTA has greatly strengthened its impact on federal policy, established an Urban Family Engagement Initiative to help close the achievement gap, engaged in high-impact national partnerships, and performed other important work that produced tangible results for children—just as it did yesterday, does today and will do again tomorrow.

Below you will find information and justification on the proposed increase. You will also find a link to e-mail your questions about the proposed dues increase to National PTA where they will be answered promptly by a staff member.
