Areas of Focus

The President's call to service encourages all Americans to get involved in their communities on projects focused on education, health, and serving military families.

Education – PTA® is renowned for supporting educational initiatives across the country. For more than 110 years members have struggled to improve early childhood education, teacher quality and other issues that are important to the success of our nation’s schools. During service projects members are encouraged to engage with their schools and communities to actively, meaningfully and effectively build and expand on this legacy.

Health Care – The most pressing issue facing many Americans today is the health and well-being of their families. Good health is vital to a child’s quality of life and a child’s ability to learn is directly related to his or her state of health. Inadequate health care is a barrier to education. PTA members are encouraged to provide equal access to quality, affordable and basic preventive health care which can prevent chronic disease.

Supporting Military Families – Military families with loved ones who are deployed need support during their times of challenge. Day-to-day issues such as home maintenance and childcare are more pressing when military families face the emotional, economic and mental challenges of service member deployment. PTA members can provide a variety of meaningful activities to these families through volunteer projects.
