National PTA Convention: General Meetings

2009 PTA National Convention
© PTA
All convention delegates attend these general meetings to voice their opinions on the business of the organization and vote on national resolutions, bylaws changes, and the election of board members. Special guest speakers, national announcements, and award presentations also make these sessions memorable. Proposed bylaws amendments, resolutions, and the slate of candidates for 2009 will be published in March.

Voting Credentials
Voting delegates at the national convention elect national board members, amend PTA National Bylaws, adopt national resolutions, and transact such business as authorized by the PTA National Bylaws. The number of voting delegates is based on state membership and delegates are selected in accordance with the bylaws of each state PTA. Your state PTA will distribute voting credentials cards. Please direct any questions about obtaining credentials cards to your state PTA office. When you arrive at the convention, bring your voting credentials card to the registration desk to declare your voting status. Do not mail your credentials card to the PTA national office.

Convention Webcast
PTA Installs Its First Male National President

PTA is offering an exclusive webcast, so you can be the first to meet the new National PTA President, Chuck Saylors, who was installed at the PTA National Convention on June 28th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

The webcast also features Byron V. Garrett, the organization's first-ever male CEO, and offers the opportunity for parents who were not able to attend the convention to reap the benefits of asking each expert questions via e-mail!
