Building on a foundation of knowledge. The landscape of our public schools has changed. According to a recent congressionally mandated report, The Condition of Education, minority students make up 42 percent of our nation's public school enrollment, up from 22 percent three decades ago. The Emerging Minority Leaders Conference, now in its third year, is designed to respond to this growing diversity in our public schools and communities, and to help PTA serve all children and families. Participants in this year's conference will strengthen their leadership skills and engage in significant networking opportunities. Both new and returning attendees will benefit from this opportunity to build on a foundation of knowledge. Registration is open to all local, council, district, region, and state leaders. The registration fee of $200 covers conference materials as well as meals on Friday evening, Saturday morning and afternoon, and Sunday morning. The PTA national office will reimburse each state for the cost of registration, airfare, hotel, and per diem for two members to attend the conference. One of these leaders can be a returning attendee, while the other should be a new emerging leader; both can be new emerging leaders. States are encouraged to select attendees from all levels of the organization. To register, go to the Registration Page.
